The YSF-1 series oil moisture detector is specifically designed for measuring water content in oil. It is an ideal choice for online detection or portable measurement of water content in lubricating oil and insulating oil to ensure the normal operation of equipment and machinery. For example, moisture has a significant impact on the insulation properties of transformer oil. Therefore, continuous monitoring of transformer oil is crucial.
The measurement of water content in oil is similar to air humidity. The water content in oil can be described as an absolute value in ppm and a relative value in water activity (aw). The YSF-1 can directly measure the water activity (aw) and temperature (T) in oil. Using these parameters, the absolute water content (ppm) of transformer oil can be calculated. By calibrating specific parameters in the oil, the water content in other oils such as non-mineral transformer oil and lubricating oil can also be calculated.
ppm (mass of water/mass of oil)
aw (the ratio of the actual water content in the oil to the saturated water content in the oil at that temperature). aw = 0 indicates that the oil is completely free of water, while aw = 1 indicates that the oil is fully saturated.

The YSF-1 can directly measure the water activity (aw) and temperature (T) in oil. Using these parameters, the absolute water content (ppm) of transformer oil can be calculated. By downloading specific parameters for the oil, the water content in other oils such as non-mineral transformer oil and lubricating oil can also be calculated.
The ideal installation position for the sensor is in the hydraulic system's return line or in the oil tank. The installation environment must not exceed the maximum allowable pressure of 10 bar.
The sensor should be installed at the monitoring point before monitoring begins.
Ensure that the sensor is always fully submerged in oil. Do not install it in a position where it may float or tilt in the oil tank.
To avoid being affected by surrounding heat sources, the sensor should not be installed near heat-emitting objects.
